Minutes of the August 13, 2003 meeting were accepted.

The master subcommittee roster was updated.

The Planning Committee roster was updated.

Resolution of the property line discrepancy in the backyard of the parish house is in progress.

kk will talk from the pulpit this weekend about the need to move forward to the fundraising portion of the project. A statement from the parish councils will appear in the bulletin. Names of members of both parish councils will be published in the bulletin.

The remainder of the Bishop Morneau video about stewardship was viewed. Notable quotes include:

“Be kind because everyone you meet on the road is struggling.”

“By ‘unnoticed giving’ man most closely resembles God’s eternal goodness.”

“Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth.”

The twelve ways to make the vision walk are to:

·        Pray

·        Give (everyday give away something)

·        Study

·        Set goals

·        Perform three random acts of kindness a day

·        Be receptive, have deep gratitude

·        Evaluate, be accountable

·        Have an ongoing conversion to a new heart

·        Recite a poem (what have you done with the garden entrusted to you?)

·        Ask a question (what can I do in return for what the Lord has given me?)

·        Say thank you

·        Put first things first (priority of building relationships)

The committee views the video as a rich resource for our fundraising campaign. Perhaps wee can get Bishop Morneau personally involved.

Initial fundraising planning was discussed. Information will be gathered from fundraising organizations. The general feeling of the committee is to involve professional fundraisers for the same reasons we hired an architect and a liturgical consultant. To do it internally would involve an overwhelming amount of work for fund raising subcommittee members and exhaust the amount of expertise of the subcommittee.

Some key issues discussed as they pertain to fundraising were:

·        How parishioners will be involved in the process

·        Importance of confidentiality

·        Training provided

Jerry Rabis indicated a “matrix model” similar to the one we used in selecting an architect could be developed if it is decided to interview fundraisers.

The Fundraising Subcommittee will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2003.

The Planning Committee will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2003

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
